I've heard that they usually mail out final decision letters on the 15th of every month. who's waiting?

I'm waiting, but since I interviewed on March 7, I don't think I'll be hearing from them anytime soon. Btw, anybody interview in March and receive any word?

I'm also waiting. Interviewed 2/13. That puts me at alomst 9 weeks (not that I'm counting or anything). Hope a large envelope comes in the mail soon.

Best of luck to all those waiting!

If anyone knows when they're mailing letters, please let us know. I called but wasn't given any useful information.

Just found another thread which says the letters are going out this week.

Hi,

I called and spoke to the admissions office today. I was told letters will be sent either on the 16th or 17th. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> There is another thread that posted (today) that both good and bad letters would be sent sometime this week. I asked if only acceptances would be sent tuesday or wednesday and was told, 'yes'. So, I'm not sure if waitlists and rejections are to be sent this week or not. I haven't heard of anyone receiving any waitlists or rejections at all in April (so far) so I'm not sure what is going on regarding those 'small letters'. They try to make a point of only sending acceptances mid month, but who knows if April will be the same or not.

It will be 11 weeks this wednesday, so I think I will find out really soon..either way. Good luck to everyone. I hope we all get large envelopes. Whenever those of you find out, post when they were post marked and when you received them.

Gracias.

i'm also waiting. can anybody confirm that an acceptance is a big envelope and rejection a small one? they did their last interviews in the final week of march. i wonder if all decisions are going out this month.

Quick question - what happens if you get accepted and have not finished sending in your Financial aid information (FAFSA) to UCSF or any other school for that matter? Will your decision be delayed if your financial information is not in? Thanks for the help.

DO ACCEPTANCE LETTERS FROM UCSF COME IN LARGE OR SMALL ENVELOPES?

Woah, no need to get frantic. Acceptances come in big envelopes, stuffed full with a packet of information, forms, a CD, etc.

I so hope that this week is the week for me. Please, Please Please, may all our dreams come through this week.

A note to Souljah- you have been so wonderful to call the office and get all this info for us. I don't know how I would have been able to stay on top of UCSF without your help. i hope it will be rewarded with a fat letter this week

Bump. Any lucky (and extremely qualified) soul find some large envelope love in their mailbox today?

Let me bump this up one more time...

Assuming that our beloved UCSF sent out acceptances some time this week, letters should be showing up in people's mailboxes around now.

Anyone?

Greetings

I am not expecting anything in the mail for awhile (currently in NYC). I start getting really nervous when someone in Cali posts they got the good news in the mailbox, b/c 4 or 5 days from that point...it could be the big day. For those of you in Cali who get the good news (I bet you a few of you will) please post the date the letter was post-marked and the date it hit your mailbox.

I called earlier this week and was told they'd be sent tuesday or wednesday..It wouldn't hurt if someone else called to verify which day they were sent.

This is so classic. UCSF is my top choice and is also the last school that I am waiting to hear from. THe extra couple of days it takes to reach the east coast are the most painful!

Best of luck.

hey souljah, you rival me in your obsession--i thought i was the worst UCSF-wanna-be here. I hope this means that you'll get in!!!!!!!!!!!1 best of luck to everyone waiting.

Just called the admissions office. They said that acceptance letters have not been mailed out yet. I don't know about "high priority" or rejections. I couldn't get a definitive mailing date. Looks like we have to wait a little longer. Don't know if I can take it anymore.

God I hope they did send them out. I can't stand the waiting. Every day that I walk in to work all my co-workers and students want an update. Were calling it Operation: Big Envelope. I really want to be able to tell them I got in .
Alas, we must continue to wait

bump this baby up! :)

Kathy from UCSF left a message on my machine today. I'm in!!!!! I interviewed 3-26. She said she telephoned me so I wouldn't miss the 2nd look weekend. Good luck to all who are still waiting.

YAY!!!!!! where do you live? are you out-of state? wow!!!!!

i'm an hour inland from SF. you responded to my PM right before my interview. are you going to the 2nd look weekend? if so, i'll see you there.

Keith,

When is the 2nd look weekend for UCSF?

Congrats Keith!

So if we didn't get a call can that mean we didn't get in? I interviewed a seven weeks ago.

Keith, did u get an envelope today (Saturday)?

congrats Keith!!!

you must be a super stud to get an acceptance from UCSF in less than one month, and with a phone call to top it off. I haven't heard of either of those things happening to anyone else. very impressive!!

now i'm wondering if all those who were included in the April batch also received phone calls?? if so, looks like a bad sign for souljah. this wednesday is 12 weeks.

i have a favor for you to ask keith. on monday, can you give ucsf a call and ask them whether or not they called all those who were sent acceptances earlier this week? that way, those of us in limbo can have a better idea as to what is going on. i have a feeling you are just a superstar and the phone call wasn't something they would normally do, but i don't want to rely on feelings (in this case). i emailed them last month asking if they could possibly send emails or phone calls to those who might receive acceptances to close to the revisit weekend so they could attend and i was told that all correspondence is done by mail.?.

man, what a great week for you!! i saw your ucsd thread earlier in the week. very well done!

Congrats Keith!!!

Now I'm starting to get very nervous here. I really hope that I get a letter from them, or a phone call.
Souljah, don't worry, there just writing you a very special acceptance letter and its taking a long time. Have faith. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Got the "High Priority" letter. :(

It was dated and postmarked on 4/18. It came in the mail on 4/20.

I'm a little bummed, but I guess I still have a chance. They didn't reject me, so that's a plus.

Looks like it's more waiting for me.

Cal7449 when did you interview?

aesculapian- 2nd look day is this saturday.

jmejia1- i haven't received a big envelope yet. kathy said she would be mailing it out fri or mon. i only received a telephone call so i wouldn't miss the 2nd look day. (that's more or less what kathy said in her message) i'm sure they'll be mailing out more acceptances and that it was just that i received the green light for acceptance close to the 2nd look day.

sorry for the late response but i left for a camping trip just minutes after my acceptance post.

aesculapian,

I interviewed on 2/13.

bump. anyone else get UCSF news?

•••••Cal, I'm still hoping for you. Hang in there!

Congratulations, Keith! I'll see this Saturday.

I got the high priority waitlist as well.

I hate this process.

I hate this process.•••••Yes waiting and not knowing is very frustrating. I interviewed Feb twenty-something and I hope I hear from them in this batch. I can't wait for the mailman! I've called home from school already earlier today, I'll can again to see if I get a letter. THIS REALLY SUCKS.

to Cal and Rhiana:

Please don't hang your heads yet. There is considerable movement from the alternate list to those that are accepted (20 to 30 usually get in). I have not received any correspondence as of yet. I live on the east coast, so perhaps an alternate list letter is on its way, but maybe not. Anyway, please remember that just gettin an interview at UCSF is an accomplishment (this is what I try to tell myself to bolster good spirits). It isn't over yet, and I know that the wait is grueling. Stay positive. :D

to Keith:

some of us would greatly appreciate it if you could call UCSF and ask the admissions office if they contacted all of those who received acceptances in april by phone. i'm sure they won't mind sharing any info with someone who was accepted. it would give many of us an idea as to whether or not we'll be hearing anything regarding acceptances this month.

I GOT THE AXE! My grades dropped plus I had two withdrawls given the added stress of applying AND I had to update UCSF during the interview day; so I'm sure that factored in, especially with such stiff competition.

Congrats to those that aleast got "high priority".

jm..sorry to hear that. :( i'm not sure of what other schools you applied to, but i hope that you walk with much success wherever you choose to go. :D

I'm so sorry that you didn't get in. i know how devastated I feel just getting high priority. I hope that you've been accepted elsewhere.

Oh my gosh! I'm sorry to hear that JM! I'm sure that you got in somewhere else, though. Don't worry, we'll all be physicians.

Thanks guys for the support. In-state, I've been accepted to UCSD and USC so that has helped cushion the blow a little: knowing I'll be staying in California for med school.

I have to admit that I'm pretty bummed about it, especially since going into the interview you hear you have a 50% chance gaining admission. Can't do nothing about it but to move on and concentrate on becomming a kick-ass physician.

Close but no cigar is worse than NOT close and no cigar!

To souljah1,

i always try to be helpful to other applicants by sharing any info i have, however, i do not think it is appropriate for you to ask me to call ucsf and ask questions that the admissions staff will undoubtedly realize do not pertain to me. i never even called them on my own behalf post-interview as they make it clear that they don't want post-interview telephone calls. my accepted status gives me no more juice with the admissions staff than i had when in limbo. sorry.

jmejia1,
keep your head up!! you got into 2 really good Ca schools. you have a right to be proud of yourself. :D :D :)

You see, in the past when others have been accepted they have called and asked questions that were asked by us at SDN (this goes for UCSF as well, Epi and LadyinRed called after they were accepted and were really helpful). It is all good though, sorry to have 'put you on the spot' or made you feel awkward. I wasn't suggesting calling and asking about other acceptances...For example...you may have wanted to call and thank Kathy for calling you about your acceptance and tell her how excited you are and say something such as, 'UCSF usually doesn't make phone calls, is this normal or was it b/c of my close proximity to UCSF' or something. I think you may have misinterpreted my request. But again, sorry for asking.

Souljah, Have you heard anything yet?

I have an acceptance at usc but i dunno if i should reapply or what, since ucsf is my dream school...•••••That would be pretty drastic: reapplying all over considering you hold an acceptance to a very fine school like USC. If you'll be crying like you posted on the USC thread if you get axed by UCSF, then for the sake of those attending USC this fall, do reapply, I'm sure they won't want to have classmates that hate being there.

If you reject USC this time around, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted by them next year (probably more than likely that they would not accept you next year).

If you defer at USC for a year, you most likely will not be able to reapply. If that is your plan, it would be best to be totally up front with USC about it. If you are not truthful with USC, you may find yourself black listed altogether.

Well, I got the long expected UCSF rejection. I already got rejected by the MSTP. It's fun getting two rejections from every school :) But, I'm definitely going to hold onto and savor this one.

Anyhow, I wish you guys the best of luck, those who are still waiting to hear or are on the waitlist.

Later,

Adam

Got back from a weekend trip, and I got the High Priority letter in the mail dated April 25.
