Are AOA surgical Residencies Considered Good Enough?

I did research and noticed AOA has residencies in Almost everything. When the Merger happens, will these residencies stick around, or will they be closed?

Provided there is money to fund them, why would they close ? There is already a shortage of physicians.

There is no merger anymore.

But thats not stopping hospitals from opening up AOA residencies in everything. Each year they have new ones, at our local hospital they had surgery only, but now they have IM, FM, OB, EM, Derm. As far the quality of training, I am not sure. Lets just say try to get into a dual program if not ACGME. But surgery acgme is tough for DOs, most tend to go for AOA surgery.
