Are both of these cliche and cheesy for a PS?

Obviously one of the reasons many to go into medicine is that they genuinely enjoy helping people.

I am one of these people, but don't want to use that in my PS because it's immensely overused. Would something like "I enjoy brightening up people's days" or "like to make others smile" be pretty much the exact same thing as helping people? And how overused are these cliches?

"I genuinely enjoy helping people", "I enjoy brightening up people's days" and "I enjoy brightening up people's days" all say the same thing. Congrats. You aren't a sociopath. It is fine to use any of them. I think the first, while by far the most used, is the least corny and the least likely to get people to roll their eyes. Just be aware, "enjoy helping people" is not a binary variable. It is on a continuous spectrum. Convince us that you care enough to do something other than state that you care.
