This is a question that has been at the back of my mind for some time now...

If a dental school is at the same university as an osteopathic school of medicine, is there any "crossover" of the osteopathic philosophy into the way things are done at the dental school?

Or are there different "philosophies" at different schools independent of the overall school's philosophy because dentistry is its own field and has the autonomy to do what it wants...

Another thought.. which schools are affiliated with Osteopathic Med Schools anyway? I am curious as to what the breakdown (%) would be...

Just thinking out loud...

NSU has an Osteopathic medical school and a dental school. They are not affliated at all. Just because the two colleges are under the same University, they have no connections in their teachings. Some basic science courses are taken together, but basic science courses are basic science courses.

Allopathic and Osteopathic medical schools teaches the same basic science courses. No Osteopathic philosophy is taught in basic science courses.

I believe the only dental schools share the same University with an Osteopathic medical schools are:

NSU
Arizona (Kirksville)
Virginia

Interesting... Thanks for the quick reply... Yah-E!

I noticed that you graduated from Midwestern University in AZ some years ago with a Masters in Biomedical Sciences. I am currently in my first year at Midwestern University in IL working on the same degree. I am also the only pre-dental student in the masters program here. (To those who don't know - Midwestern has Osteopathic Med Schools in IL and AZ)

Looking at other threads, it's been pretty inspirational to me to see what you've gone on to do after MWU and NSU... Your hard work has paid off, so best of luck to you at LSU... 👍 👍
