Are "male" nurses needed that bad?

If so that is good since I am a guy :)
I ask because every person I talk to says the same thing: "They are in need of nurses and especially males".

The only advantage I can see a male having over a female is in the strength department. Carrying or moving a patient. Are you moving patients that often??

    Maybe I am missing something.

Not that I am complaining, just don't see why "males" are highly needed
