I saw a few post bacc programs that grant an "official certificate" by completing additional seminar courses that aren't pre-dental requirements. Just wondering if this actually gives an edge in someway.

Many will say that there is no difference.

In my opinion a post bacc program that offers a master's degree is the only way to go. In the event dental school doesn't work out, a post bacc means nothing, while a master's degree is still a master's degree and is more respected by possible employers.

With formal post-bac programs, the certificate is not the selling point. Rather, it is the guaranteed seats in the prerequisite classes (a huge advantage in places like CA) and the committee letter.
