Helloo...I am a first time user in need of some reassurance. I've been feeling very low and confused lately about starting medical school later than normal. I have no one to talk to about this and no one that understands these feelings. I believe this is partly because of my race. My situation is complicated because I'm Asian (specifically Indian), a race that isn't very tolerant of mistakes from what I have seen.

I have no one to talk to. And no Indian I know is in my situation, so I feel I'm the only outlier. Everything around me is a cloud of negativity right now...these concerns are actually emotionally and physically starting to affect me. I finally turned to researching the internet for answers and came upon Student Doctor Network. My reason for coming here is to see if there is anyone in my situation that I could message my concerns to. Indian or non-Indian non-trads, or pre-meds that have taken gap years.

I am glad I came upon this forum...after all, it is full of premeds and doctors! Maybe by sharing my story here, I can see that I am (hopefully) not the only one in this situation. I think that will make me feel better.

There's a whole non trad forum. Look at the list of forums. You're not alone...

Non-trad. 15 years out from graduation. Not Indian (ok, I am 1/16 American Indian, but that is not the same). However, you can complain away or hit me up through PM if you have anything you need to get off your chest or any questions on taking years off.

I understand your troubles, you are going to have to surround yourself with supportive people and other Indians are probably not going to fit that bill. I am talking from experience.

Also, ensure you have a variety or opinions surrounding you, an echo chamber only serves to make things worse.
