Prostate seed implants (LDR brachytherapy) is a pretty routine procedure.

i would liken the daily contouring to a procedure

Radiation Oncology is a procedure-based specialty. Most of what we do is considered to be a procedure in one way or another, wheter it be daily radiation treatment delivery or performing brachytherapy. Please read the FAQ (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=116902), then post any additional questions it does not answer.

Brachy - low dose rate - prostate, gyne, chest wall impants in thoracic cases, gliasite, etc
high dose rate - PBI, gyne, skin, sarcomas, esophagus, bronchus

I'm in the OR often doing cases.
