Are there any things I can do to prepare for PAT?

And practice,practice,practice....did I say practice ? 🙂 that's the key --as I read from the book that there's no innate ability for this so that everybody could develop it , there's just different attitudes and inclines to thinking in 2- and 3-D.

Apparently there is a strong correlation between Rubiks cubes and doing well on the PAT. So work hard on the Rubiks and when you arent doing that, practice hard on old PAT exams. Good luck.

rubik's cube huh... never really thought about that - even though I have one sitting on my night stand and mess with it every now and then. I would practice as much as you can with whatever you can get your hands on. I found kaplan's PAT material to be toooo easy. I kept scoring 24s and 25s... the actual PAT section on the exam was 10x more difficult

i can actually sovle a rubiks within a few mins, i may bring that up during my interview

Not to sound like a broken record...but practice, practice, practice.

I took my PAT from a 19 last year (very little practice) to a 28 this year (whole lotta practice).

I used the following materials:
-Kaplan blue book and the full Kaplan course. I wasn't a big fan of shelling out boku $ for Kaplan, but I must admit, all of the online material (workshops, practice tests, etc.) helped me out a TON.
-Barron's, which has a good PAT section.
-DAT Achiever, which has ridiculously hard PAT sections.

Regardless of what you use, practice, practice, practice.

Good luck.

i heard video games help. i've been on those systems since atari! yes...im old. when you have break time to relax from studying of course, play some games 🙂 but in general, i practiced with harder pat problems (achiever/acethedat) topscore/kaplan is easy imo. practice might not make perfect in this case, but it'll get you up there!

Mainly just do problems... Practice will help you out tremendously in this section. Once you see how the problems work, you can do well. It just takes time.

For TFE you can practicve by just taking objects at home and visualizing them from different views. Then daw the view that you would see out. Great practice to help you really get TFE down.

If you have problems w/the hole punching, try folding some origami. Buy a book or go online because the folding instructions use the same sort of dotted lines as the PAT section.
