No, I think they want to keep out those who are not involved with dentistry whatsoever. It's cool to look around there, but the attitudes can be kinda harsh there. Just be ready with thick skin!

Talia brings up a good point. DentalTown is a favorite stop of mine, but until I'm practicing and can really contribute, it's tough to post there. Mostly it's a lurking/reading spot.
