So I get that Argosy is a no go. I have received a lot of input from this site and it is much appreciated. My goal is to commission in the military as a Clinical Psychologist and I'm trying to find the right path.
I see from other posts I have read that Alliant is similar, but perhaps not as bad. I wish I had the flexibility and the GPA to look around the country and find the best program. Unfortunately I have an undergrad of 3.2 (getting a degree while on active duty is rough), because I just wanted to graduate and didn't mind if I even got a C. I'm also 30, on active duty, own a home, married, and have two kids. Now I'm in my last semester and my options for graduate schools are very limited. I plan to take the GRE in after the semester is over, but even a high score can not erase my GPA.
At this point, I have to look at a local professional school with lower admission requirements. I hate to sell myself short, but if I were to show up to a highly competitive school with my scholastic record they would laugh me out of the room.
I have been advised to get an MA and keep my grades up to show the effort to make it into a PsyD or PhD program. It sounds good, and it's a viable option, but in order to pay for it I will most likely extend on active duty and still not be able to excel enough to keep my grades up. I'm saving my 9/11 GI Bill for a doctorate program, so Alliant seems like a good idea... right?
My real plan is to get an HPSP scholarship so someday all I will have to worry about is going to school until I finish my doctorate. I'm just not sure if its possible!
