Hey Everyone,

I had some questions about serving in the reserves, specifically during residency. I've read up on a lot of the threads and websites, but was hoping to hear from some of you that are doing this.

As I understand it, residents are assigned to the APMC during residency training. I was wondering if anyone could comment on the ease or difficulty of accumulating enough "good point's" to get your drill time counted and to accumulate points for retirement/promotions. Any general comments on the experience or logistics would be appreciated.

My second question is about STAP. What is the minimum and maximum amount of years that you can request the STAP? I'm going to be applying to Neurosurgery so I'll have a 7yr residency. I truly doubt that I would take the 7yrs of STAP and the 14yr payback that comes along with it. I just wanted to know the options.

Last question for now is what does one have to do to qualify for loan payback?

Thanks a bunch,
Fishsticks
