I'm not the typical case, so I thought I'd post a question for everyone. I just started my 3rd year of medical school and was wondering how it might work out if I joined the Army National Guard. Typically, medical students attend OBC between 1st and 2nd year year I've heard and now that I'm into 3rd year, time is a bit more scarce. Especially a full month. When would I have time to attend OBC? We aren't given any time off 3rd or 4th year, minus the month off we receive for boards prep during 4th year.
I'm also curious if someone could talk about how you interact with the guard during the 80 hour work week of residency?
Any insight is appreciated.
