So I took an upper division biology class and here's the thing - I got a B in the class overall, but with one bombed test. I also did bad in one thing in lab, which brought me down. It was also the easiest test; I think I was either overconfident or rushed through it. I got A's on the other tests, which were extremely hard

My question is, do you think it would be good to have him write me a letter explaining my accomplishments in the class, even though I only got a B? I feel like he'd be a good recommender because he knows me

thanks

I would recommend asking the professor if he is willing to write you a strong letter of recommendation for medical school. Key word, strong.
If he isn't comfortable doing so he will likely be honest

Does he know you well? That's what's important.
