.ASTRO and ARRO are pleased to announce the opening of registration for the ASTRO-ARRO Journal Club. ASTRO-ARRO Journal Club’s debut webinar will be hosted live on March 30, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. EST by Anthony Zietman, M.D. and will focus on Prostate Cancer. Anthony Zietman, M.D. will present on his recently published article and will facilitate a resident-lead discussion on the article and associated content..

Agree, excellent idea by the folks at ARRO. Apparently they have the next 12 months lined up, so we can expect plenty more of this...

The next ASTRO-ARRO Journal Club webinar will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. ET. We are excited to have Larry Kun, M.D., FASTRO, as the faculty leader and he will be presenting on the topic of Childhood Cancer. Dr. Kun will discuss two concurrently published journal articles.

The main article can be found at the following internet publication site: Phase II Trial of Conformal Radiation Therapy for Pediatric Low-Grade Glioma. Dr. Kun has also suggested that residents look at this related article.

Dr. Willett will be presenting on the topic of Gastrointestinal Cancer and has select two articles to focus on. Both articles can be found online and can be accessed through the following links: “Preoperative radiotherapy versus selective postoperative chemoradiotherapy in patients with rectal cancer (MRC CR07 and NCIC-CTG C016): a multicentre, randomized trial.” and “Effect of the plane of surgery achieved on local recurrence in patients with operable rectal cancer: a prospective study using data from the MRC CR07 and NCIC-CTG CO16 randomised clinical trial.”
