ATSU-SOMA Class of 2014!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So how many of you has already brought the laptop from lenovo? I know this brand is like some junk as described by many people. I don't see much benefit offered, I think I will stay with my current laptop. (Just configure how to connect School's Printer, wireless network and some software) So why bother to buy a new one?

Question to previous class: Does most of you jot notes using laptop? How many using notebooks (pen-to-paper)?

The computer is somewhat fragile, but simply treat it well, don't throw it around and it will last you. You will need the computer since for one it is school policy that you have one and while we inprocessed the school made it very clear we all needed one and I believe the school cross checked the people who were enrolled to who had purchased them. Mainly because they want to ensure that once you get to your CHC and it breaks down or has a software malfunction you can quickly send it back and receive a temporary replacement.

I would suggest getting one. They are decent computers and work well for business.

Good luck to all of you, first year is quite challenging but rewarding to finish.

*I am a fourth year medical student who is also enrolled in the Army HPSP program. I am located at the Hawaii CHC. Any questions should be PM'ed to me.

Where can I get a list of the CHC available? I am debating whether or not to apply to this school and I was hoping to get more information about this, how often i'd need to move.

Also, I would love to hear from current students, why did you choose to go to this school over others? I am low on funds at the moment so I have to be smart about where i apply. Thanks!

from what i understand, almost all the chc sites are in consortium/collaboration with multiple clinics in the area so rotations at multiple clinics are likely. what they told us so far is that we will spend 3 days in "class" and 2 days in "clinic" (class/clinic may be in the same clinic). years 3 and 4 are tbd, but for the most part are within the current network, and possibilities to be at other ATSU-SOMA affiliated CHCs, or other non SOMA CHCs. normally 4th year electives are set up on your own, so anywhere i guess (with the intention of where you want your residency).
