Audit Program at SGU?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Although I have never seen any printed information regarding an audit program at SGU, there apparently is such a program. A friend of mine had to "audit" his first term, apparently in order to show that he actually could do the work. I'm not sure what his particular situation was, but he is an "older" student ( I use the term loosely since I'm 30...). The strange thing is, after doing fine in his audit term, he had to repeat the same one, but this time, for actual credit. I never understood that logic (if you did fine the first time, why not count it and move on to second term?), but that's what he had to do.

He is the only person that I know of who had to do an "audit", or somthing similar to it. The admissions office could probably give you more detailed and correct information.

From what I saw, the audit program was for people 1. with alumni connections or 2. money. It's similar to the program that they used to have (I don't know if they still do) at Hahnemann, where you do the work, pay for it, but don't get credit. It's to see if you can hack it. I know one woman who couldn't. There were these two guys that were just annoying as HELL, constantly quoting the Simpsons (but not a wide range - just a few of the same, tired ones, over and over), who were "graduates"; however, their team was busted up when one half failed genetics 3 times (even though 2 failures for poor people means the door) when he was in the actual medical program.

If you get offered the audit vs. nothing, take it. If you get to go into medicine, take that, even if they make you do the alternate program.

How do you know that hte audit program is for ppl with alumni questions? also, what do you guys think of hte mph program? its a one year program inw hich you have to maintain a 3.5 gpa and then afterwards you can get into the school of medicine. they supposedly have a 92-93% rate of students making it through the mph into the med school...any thoughts?

I really don't know about the audit/alumni connection. I also don't know too much about the MPH program ( a lot of help 🙄 !), although I do know a few people in the program who seem to like it. The admissions office should be able to give you more information, including email addresses and/or phone numbers of current students in the program. If you'd like to P.M. me, I would be happy to try and get contact information for you.
