August MCAT'ers: List your Acceptances!

Just wondering if any Aug. MCAT'ers have received any acceptances, not rejections or interviews, since there are threads on those already.

Yes, true. Taking the April MCAT is better, but I had absolutely no time to do so. Personally, I wasn't expecting any acceptances until February or so. It's delayed, but workable. After all, there are April MCATers who are still turning in secondaries and pushing the December deadlines for recs! Not an ideal situation, but if u see from last year, most August MCATers get in, just later in the cycle. Keep in mind, our interviews started rolling in 3 months after April MCATers and we've only been interviewing for a month or so. After only a month of interviews, I think we're doing fine...

i'm not saying anything bad about those of you who did take the aug. MCAT

BUT....if you want to get this over with as quickly as possible, take the april mcat, and finish your app. ASAP

I don't think anyone, including August MCATers, would deny that there is value in taking the MCAT as early as reasonably possible. However, the emphasis should be on "reasonably". Applicants will do themselves no favors if they take the April MCAT if they are not ready. What this thread also proves is that August MCATers do get in. As most schools have only had our completed aps for a month now I am sure this thread will rapidly grow as people actually start to get interviews.

you're right that your interviews have only been going on for a month, that was the point of my advice

by the time the aug. mcat scores get to schools, they have already (most of them anyway) made their first wave of decisions (oct. 15 is the first day you get to know about acceptances). So by the time the aug. mcat scores get to the schools, their effective class size is already decreased by some number (i don't know what this number is) and the competition for the remaining spots is greater.

this is my only point, with rolling admissions the best way to maximize your chance at an acceptance is to put yourself in the first set of applications to be screened---

marakah2, no offense or anything, this thread is strictly for august acceptances, there have been other threads that have proved and disproved why taking april mcats are better, feel free to search for them or start ur own thread.

i agree whole-heartedly with what you say about the importance of taking the mcat early, but i'd like to point out that, in general, fewer people (very few as compared to non-aug mcaters) take the mcat in august, so obviously there will be, correspondingly, fewer acceptance posts for aug mcaters vs. non-aug mcaters.

Actually 31,910 people took the Aug MCAT compared to 25,629 for the April session (from the AAMC website). More people take the Aug. MCAT year after year. One of the major reasons why there are less acceptances for Aug. MCATers (putting the "applying late" theory beside), is that many people who take the Aug. MCAT apply for the following application cycle and not for the current year. It is true that earlier is better but if you take the MCAT in April, unprepared and get a 25 when you could have taken it in Aug. and received a 30 with more studying then it pays to take the Aug. exam. The fact remains that applying early with bad stats doesn't help you (my own experience from last year). Good luck to all Aug MCATers, I know the acceptances will start rolling in soon. LET'S GET BACK TO THE POINT OF THIS THREAD AND LIST ACCEPTANCES FOR AUG MCATers.

sorry aquaboy! i don't mean to hijack this thread...but i'd like to clarify that i meant "aug-mcaters" not as people who take the mcat in august, but people who take the mcat in august who are concurrently applying in the same cycle.

You know what's annoying? Logging on to trick threads that claim to do one thing (list August acceptances) and discovering its just another thread devoted to a meaningless game of oneupmanship between people who will compete over anything.

I'm an August MCATer, and I'm still receiving notices that my apps are complete, so I think acceptances are a ways off, but if you've gotten in please let us know!

I'm not sure where I'm gonna end up at all right now. I'm waiting to hear back from 3 other schools and have 2 more late interviews to get through. But you never know, Mizzou is not so far from the top of my list, especially after I went there.

This is just psycho - we all applied to Mizzou! I got accepted yesterday, which was quite possibly the worst thing that ever happened to my biochem grade. Had to quell my exuberance enough to study, which as you might guess, did not happen. Exam at 7:45am this morning, walked out 52 minutes later and did the happy dance. I'm going out tonight with a vengeance!
