Hi,

I am Canadian pre-dental student who is considering options between Australia and US dental school. Why don't I consider Canadian ones? Well, I do but I would like to see and hear all the possibility to have better back-up plans...

Assume that I get accepted into both Aus/US schools... and if I want to go back to practice in Canada at some point, which would be better? I would like to go back to Canada less than 4 years after dental school graduation, if I must study aboard.

I know Aus and Canada have reciprocal agreement just like US and Canada did... so I figure chance of getting back to Canada may be similar but does anybody know/hear there are some bias between Aus/US dental schools? Do you think the reputation and "name" of the dental school would really be significant when I consider to going back to Canada?

Many thanks in advance!

There is no reciprocal agreement between Australia and any of the US states in terms of dental registration.

If you are a Canadian, then goto dental school in Canada. You will have option of working in either the US or Australia afterwards.

Reputation doesn't matter one bit.

Thank you for the reply!

To be honest with you, I am kind of non-traditional student (currently doing MSc) and my GPA is not high enough (low 3s due to the strange choice of major in physics and minor in biology) for most of Canadian schools). I do not say either US/Aus schools are much easier to get in but it seems like some of low GPAs have slightly more chances to get in.

I think higher GPA is expected from Canadian schools because they drop off the lowest GPA year if it is full semester.. even that I personally think my GPA is hardly matched to Canadian ones..

Anyhow... thank you again!
