Australian qualified Psychiatrist

Hi guys, I'm just wondering what the process is for an Australian qualified Psych to come work in the states? I'm planning on doing my residency in Australia but would like to come work in the states if that's at all possible? Is there a competent entry pathway similar to what we have here for US MD's?

I believe you have to do residency in the US to be able to practice here.

With the exception of a few specialties, all physicians should complete all components of the USMLE and complete an ACGME accredited residency program. I am not aware of any alternate pathways for psychiatry though they exist for radiology, radiation oncology etc.

Thank you, that's so unfortunate to hear. Will have to rethink whether I want to sit the USMLE then. It's just that Australia has some fantastic residency programs which I was interested to do.
