Autism/vaccine court ruling

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was (very) cautiously optimistic it may help some too. I guess I still am.:xf:

But not 12 hours after I saw the court's ruling, I saw another article (not at all surprising) that "parents remain unconvinced"

This may have helped Some who were maybe a bit on the fence about the debate/whether vaccines will harm their child(ren). But those who believe the MMR gave their kid autism will NOT give up their stance I'm afraid... no matter how many studies or court rulings disagree with them... after all, Jenny McCarthy believes them!

Jenny McCarthy is a boob (no pun intended). Amanda Peet is awesome for supporting the cause. I totally agree. If parents are convinced that a vaccine caused their child's autism, no level of evidence to the contrary will help. Parents just do not want to admit that it may be genetic or something else that they could not control. They would rather blame it on something more tangible, like a vaccine. I hope "those on the fence" as you mentioned take heed and are more open to vaccinating their children.

Recent articles in Nature and in the Annals of Human Genetics found evidence of genetic variants associated w/autism spectum disorders. Researchers examined 1 million SNP's. The analysis identified the 5p14.1 chromosomal region as containing common genetic variants associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The 5p14.1 locus lies between two genes that encode neuronal cadherins – cell-adhesion proteins that bind neurons together and are thought to be important for establishing cell connections during brain development. Additional analysis supported the hypothesis that cell-adhesion molecules – as a family – may be collectively associated with ASD. Variations in these molecules could cause changes to the brain’s functional connections and lead to the clinical symptoms of ASD.

And vaccines. That part was left out as part of the conspiracy...
