It limits you, but not enough to not even try. Be sure you have a backup though. I knew a couple great people that had to scramble. AOA surgery is unpredictable from what the auditioners said.

you can give it a shot. do well on your auditions. average comlex from 3 years ago was a 500. you may have a shot at some programs, but i think some of the "upper tier" programs will be out of reach.

i'm not too familiar with aoa programs but i think pcom and doctor's in ohio are up there in terms of difficulty. maybe someone with more knowledge about aoa gen surg can chime in.
