I do realize that my question is a little bit broad because the income level varies from state to state but I just wanted to know how much an associate dentist who has recently graduated from dental school would make in the first few years.

thanks

Did you get any benefits? Or were you a 1099?

Where were you working that you were getting paid so little you're 1st yr out? Not judging just asking. I know plenty of grads that made 120 to 150k their first year out.

Straight out of school, my first job offer was 130k 4.5 days a week, no bennies, no CE reimbursement in semi-rural America. Needless to say, turned it down.

tangential to the thread, but it appears you were able to secure a job offer well in advance of your graduation date next year.

how typical is this?

What I was offered is pretty much what you can expect in these parts. Mostly I hear the standard is 140k for 5 days. Chains owned by dentists typically start 150k 5 day workweek with occasional Saturday that include benefits. Some folks in my class have something lined up and signed.
For me I decided to apply for residencies unless there is an offer I can't refuse come April.
