When you have offers at 2 different programs for an away elective for a given month, what is the best way to decline your less desirable offer?

Should you explicitly tell a program where you decided to go instead, or should you just thank the program but say that you will be going somewhere else and will be unable to attend?

just say that you are having scheduling conflicts with other rotations, you dont have to be specific, and dont tell them it is for another program. you can even say something to the effect that you have obligations to be close to home (if its a program far away) or something. i wouldnt say that you will be going to another program...

just my 2 cents

you dont own anyone the details. As soon as you make your decision thank them and even write them and let it go.
