Medical missions?
Travel?
Life learning?

I'm dyin' to do something really fun! any ideas?

I worked full time as a paramedic and went to Cancun.

Please don't do anything school related. Enjoy!

I will be traveling to Israel for about a month to explore the country, visit my family there, and possibly do some volunteering there. Then I will probably work for a little while and spend some time with my family and friends in US before I leave.

Travelled, worked out, hooked up, drank, slept.

Pretty much all the things that you will have little time for once school starts.

Oh, I disagree. I disagree.

(Especially during the second year.)

I dont have any clue what I am doing. Is anyone going to be getting a job for the summer or would my earnings just limit my financial aid for the following year. I am liking the idea of relaxing and not doing much

I worked full time for 8 months prior to medical school, and recieved the maximum possible financial aid.

It WILL NOT affect your aid, since you will be quitting that job prior to matriculation.

That sounds like tons of fun! 🙂 I'm jealous.

I'm going to keep my brother and sister for my parents (they're much younger than me 8 and 10) so that they don't have to put them in some sort of camp or program and they're going to pay me to do it. So basically I get paid to hang out with my family! ANd I'm going to go whitewater rafting/camping/hiking for like 10 days as well as some sort of beach trip - hopefully to the Bahamas! 🙂

wait! that's evil!! camp was the best part of my life! send 'em. Who wants to get baby sat by their older sibling for the summer? you'd be better off working at the camp that your parents send them to.
where are you going hiking / rafting?

...also, anybody heard of any non-christian international 'mission' opportunities?

haha, my brother and sister actually like hanging out with me. We go hiking and such on the weekends and they really bug me if I can't go. Plus, they'll get to go to camp for the first month of the summer - I'm working until the end of June and moving to GA in the beginning of August. Plus we're going on a 10 day long family vacation during July and everyone in my family will be home during the first week of July due to the 4th. So that's really only 2 weeks of "babysitting". I'm not such a bad big sister 😉

I'm either going hiking/rafting in Colorado or West Virginia - depending on where we can get frequent flyer miles 🙂 I really can't wait. I was going to do the trip through the Grand Canyon (that's what I'd REALLY like to do) but my sister is too young and since my family is paying for it they want to include her. Go figure. 😛 But some day I'm going to do that trip.

I did an internship through UNITE FOR SIGHT (www.uniteforsight.org)

It was great. If you want specifics I can send you info. We raised funds for cataract surgeries adn got 1500 donated eyeglasses. Went to india in conj with an eye hospital. Learnt how to screen vision/reading/cataracts...selected patients for free surgery and shadowed all teh surgeries....it was excellent.

Only you have to pay for your own expenses. but you can apply for travel grants and such...

I will be traveling throughout Europe for two weeks after graduation, and sometime in June or July I want to go on one more medical mission trip.

I took off a whole month to get to know Italy! Then two weeks after I got back to the states, I went to Hawaii for two weeks. Just have lots of fun. 👍 :luck:

I just slept and played computer games. When I wasn't doing that stuff, I cursed out the schools who rejected me and whiped my ass with the rejection letters. It was the best thing I could have done since I needed the relaxation.

👍 There is a copy of TES: Oblivion with my name on it.

I work PT for an old buddy of mine who has a successful company now. I work as much or as little as I want, whenever I want, from home. I have plenty of cash left in the bank to do absolutely nothing until August, but I still like to make some money to replace what I spend on "fun stuff".

Other than that, I have been hanging out with friends, playing Galactic Civilization II, and watching the first two seasons of Star Trek: TNG. I am going to take a trip in June; a few days at sea fishing the gulf stream. Should be a blast.

I do get bored a lot, though 🙁
