I just got some coupon book in the mail and decided to open it and look at what current physicians are offering. Interesting enough, I found a coupon for a Dr. xxx xxxxx. He is a Bariatric Pysician. Next to it, it says his office provides rhinoplasty(provided by plastic surgeon), liposuction, tummy tuck, collagen injections and more.

I also read online that Bariatric Physicians can prescribe medicine when necessary... the only catch is that they specialize in obesity. I guess that's not a bad field nowadays. Just thought it's pretty odd that so many spinoffs to the traditional physician exist without the necessity of MCAT, medical school, bla bla bla that we're all going to go through before we practice.

Most so called "bariatric physicians" are in all actuality general surgeons. It sounds as if this physician is offering weight loss assistance through pharmaceuticals. Although, if he is doing plastic surgery it is most likely that he is a general surgeon/plastic surgeon with experience in vertical banded gastroplasty/Roux en Y/Lap Band weight loss surgeries. This doctor is deffinately a MD though. As far as I know, every single physician I have met in bariatrics has been a full blown MD/DO. If you have come across something different please show a link to a website etc. . . if there is some sort of strange and unusual new medical practice that doesn't require the MCAT or Medical School.

If you're a physician whose undergraduate major was meteorology, does that make you a Barometric Physician?
