Hi everyone,

I applied to Barry, rutgers and midwestern AZ for SMP for dental track.

I got accepted into barry for the 18 month and still waiting the other two schools.

If you guys could give input which school looks more promising on getting me into dental school that would be great! my GPA currently is a 3.3 with no DAT score yet. I could really use your help because i need to decide soon on which of the three schools ( if accepted into all three) i should attend?

Thanks!

Why are you applying to masters already if you haven't even taken the DAT? Plenty of people get in with your GPA and a good DAT. Seems like a waste of money to get a masters when you haven't even given admission to dental school a shot.

I did the Midwestern MABS program. It was more challenging than undergrad but it was a great program that helped me get into dental school. The great aspects about the program are:
1. If you meet the articulation agreement you are guaranteed an interview to both Midwestern dental schools and have a significantly greater shot at an interview at other schools. As an interviewee who is already a student at Midwestern you have a greater chance of acceptance compared to other interviewees. The vast majority of students get accepted to either Midwestern school and many others go to other/in-state schools.
2. You get to take classes that are identical to the classes you will take in D1 & D2 and taught by the same professors. Having a connection to those professor speak great volume to dental schools when they write you a letter of recommendation. Another nice aspect is that you learn the professors lecture and test habits so if you attend Midwestern for dental school you have an advantage for studying over your classmates. It is well rumored at Midwestern that masters students perform better, achieve higher GPAs, score higher on boards while being less stressed as they are already conditioned for time management and study habits.
3. One of the big reasons I wanted to go to Midwestern was because the MABS program is accelerated and you get a masters in 9 months rather than 2 years as it is with the majority of master programs.

There are many more reasons Midwestern's masters program is a great choice and you should investigate it more to see if it is a good fit.
Good luck on your decision.

Hey @caxajuate, the 3.3 is my university GPA not my science. my science is lower. I will be studying and taking the DAT this summer or something along those lines and just using the SMP for a gpa booster. and if i don't do well on the DAT to help me for that as well.
