please see my crude MS Paint drawing
Say you have a loop with a battery(or other voltage source, does it matter which?), resistor, and capacitor. current comes out of the positive part of the battery so the capacitor is charged up before current gets to the resistor right?
also for the lower image, which is positive and which is negative terminal? i saw this diagram but have never seen anything like it before
