Baylor Acceptances?

Just curious, but does anyone know when Baylor starts sending out acceptances? They normally start on October 15th (according to MSAR and USNews), but given that Hurricane Rita pushed back an interview group, are they going to start accepting later? Thanks for any help!

They will start calling and sending out acceptances later this week (maybe as early as Wednesday or as late as Friday), according to Melody in the admissions office. They still ended up interviewing two whole interview groups (9/9 and 10/7), so I think they have a sufficient pool to start choosing people for acceptances. Last year, I believe they called people on the 15th, but that was b/c it was a Friday. This year, the 15th was a Saturday, so it looks like they just felt like pushing it back a week. Word on the street is that Dr. Bradshaw is out of the country until Nov. 7th. But the admissions office lady did tell me on Monday they would be starting to call people and mail letters out by the "end of the week." Apparently, if Dr. Bradshaw doesn't make the phone call (but the lady I talked to said Dr. Bradshaw does what he has to do, no matter where he is) his 2nd in command, may be making the phone calls. And today is Thursday, so I'm guessing tomorrow is the big day? But then again, the Baylor admissions people will be busy with their 3rd interview session, so who knows? But then again, Dr. Bradshaw and his staff aren't part of the admissions office, since he's Dean of Medical Education. I guess we'll have to just see tomorrow.

I heard that Baylor doesn't reject people. Well, not this early anyway. They only let you know if you're accepted.

Hey, you know I was. I talked to some of the students, and they said we could hear back as quickly as Monday or as late as April or May. One of the guys said he actually didn't hear back from them until April, but he's still a student there. I guess what I'm saying is, don't sweat it for now, and go catch the next episode of good eats.

I interviewed there on the 21st, too. I was pretty impressed. I interviewed with Dr. Bala first and he was a great interviewer. Very quiet, but able to draw out a lot of detail. I think it went well. The second interviewer was a student. He was almost too nice. I hope he got what he wanted out of me, it was my first experience with a student and it was more relaxed than I expected. Unfortunately, I was ill for some reason (food?) and so I left after the interviews. I was miserable in my hotel room until about 8 p.m. and then felt good enough to eat, take some tylenol, and then everything was better. How was the evening schedule?

I interviewed on the 7th and haven't heard anything. It looks like they are considering 9/9 people right now, and later they will start looking at the 10/7 people. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's not quite how it works. They don't go from one group to the next. They should have explained this, but maybe they didn't get around to it. They have just one list - a big, long list. After the first interview group, everyone was ranked, and they chose a very small number off the top of the list to be accepted. Then the next group came in, they were interviewed and ranked. They were then thrown into the previous list and everyone's relative rank was determined. Then a few were taken off the top of the compiled list for acceptance. They could have been people from the second group, people from the first, or a mix. It all depends on the relative rank. If you have interviewed, you are somewhere in that list, and it's all a matter of when your number gets to the top. In the beginning, they accept very few people off the top, so as to save room later and not overindulge early on.

Personally, I interviewed in November and was accepted in April. Some people interviewed after me and were accepted before me. Some interviewed before me and were accepted after me. Acceptances now have no correlation with when you interviewed, just where you rank.

They gave presentations on the school curriculum and life in Houston. I went to Two Rows afterwards - only 15 - 20 people there (MS and interviewees). The students were nice, though.

When I interviewed they said that the class would not be filled until they had completed all interviews. So, hopefully they can show me and the rest of us who really want to go there some love between now and then.
