Anyone else dropped their name into registration when the system opened up this past 15th?
My app still pending.

Just need some quick study tips on how to tackle this.
Background: Graduated PGY1 June 2019. Currently in ED/CC Specialist Position.
Got my hands on the "ACCP Updates in Therapeutics 2017 (Pharmacotherapy Review+Recertification Course)".

Seems like alot of nitty gritty info. I know this is about studying smart.
Feel like im highlighting alot and just writing down "1st line, 2nd line .... inclusion/exclusion criteria".

Can anyone speak on the exam (taking it in the last 3yrs) of what to expect?
And please dont refer me to "sEe tHe OuTliNe oN BcPS". Thanks.

I would avoid getting weighed down too much in the nitty gritty as well, like re-reviewing guidelines or looking things up outside of the text, or you will end up spending whole days on chapters. I think it is more important to at least get a quick read through the material and focus on sections you are less familiar with. Especially since you did residency and can figure out most ED/CC questions more easily.

One way to try and shorten the process and study smarter is to do the self-assessment/practice questions before the chapter, if you get most of the clinical questions correct you should spend less time on the chapter overall or wait to do that one later.

I would also read through the non-clinical chapters first. Other chapter questions throw in stats/regulatory so it helps you practice as you go.

Also maybe see if you can acquire the 2018 or 2019 version if you think some of the guidelines and such seem too outdated, but you are probably fine.

I took it on ACCP. Very helpful. The onc questions were a little bit too in depth. Helped identify weakness/strengths.

How’s studying going for the BCPS Fall? I’m taking mine next month. I just took my ACCP mock exam yesterday with a 58.9 score. It was a pretty difficult exam and had a lot of chemo questions and random disease questions sprinkled in. I had to really guess on some of the questions. I hope the real exam isn’t as crazy as this one.

Studying is going ok, definitely going to need more before I feel completely ready. Do you recommend the ACCP mock exam? Is it worth the money?

Anyone have a layout of questions (how many per each disease state) etc? 10 ID, 10 HIV, 10 oncology, etc.

Hello, random question- do we need to know everything (all topics) in detail?

My BCPS experience -- Finished PGY1 residency 2018 and work a clinical position at a hospital. I studied the ASHP chapters on study design and stats and memorized all of that information (very similar to school content so wasn't too bad). I memorized what statistical tests to pick based on the study design etc. Otherwise I only studied HIV (mostly reading the tldr pharmacy article). Took the exam spring 2020 and got 590. I would say I am an above average test taker for context.

I have no idea. Have never taken the real exam yet, but you can get a feel for their questions using their sample questions on the BPS website.

Good evening, I took the ASHP yesterday and the ACCP today. It was challenging. Scoring only around 60%. It is an eye opener for me but I have the real test in two weeks and just have to press forward. So nervous and ready to be done. Also, ready to try again if I have to :)

It was a lot and took forever to take both of these exams. It's been eight years that I have done an exam like this. I did do a residency but this was challenging. I would close with saying it was worth the month to have questions.

Did you review all topics and then took it. I am waiting to cover all topics before I take the ACCP one. Did ASHP some time back just to know the gist of it, Scored only 46%.

Taking it this Saturday. At this point, I don’t know how much I know or need to know. Hoping that I won’t get asked on too many specific questions. Let me know if you have any tips/advice. Thank you!

Hi all,
Been getting PMs from a lot of you, who are wondering how my exam went yesterday. Before I continue, I just want to let you know that I will not share test questions or specific topics that I was tested on. I don’t want to mess up the curve and sharing those details would be a true disservice to not only myself, but to everyone else who have taken the exam.
Ok, I will get off of my soapbox and will share my general experience with the exam.
I honestly felt that the exam wasn’t that bad (compared to ACCP practice exam). I guess after they made the changes, there are significantly more pharmacotherapy questions than regulatory ones and of course stats sprinkled all in between. There are features on the exam, where you can flag the questions so you can go back to them. I highly recommend doing this with the “iffy” ones, because the answer might become more obvious later.
I also noticed that some questions are definitely made to trick the crap out of you and have more than one correct answers. I guess the correct answer would be the one that is the “most” correct. This is definitely a frustrating experience because when I looked up the answers after the exam, I really couldn’t tell if right or wrong. Anyways,
If you have been studying with the ACCP materials, then you’ should be in good hands. Just relax the day before the exam. I was a ball of nerves and studied and I couldn’t really sleep the night before. I think that extra bit of studying really didn’t benefit, because I don’t really have a good short term memory. I have the 2019 version. I would just read whatever they provided you in the 2020 version but not much more.

ACCP material is superior to ASHP. I've listened to the ASHP certification material and it's subpar compared to the ACCP material.

any one who took the test in october 2020 ? any insight about the test would be much appreciate it. hearing about the fall exam from different people helps alot of people to get through their anxiety. thanks

I am taking it tomorrow Monday October 12, 2020. Wish me success please. I am tired of studying. My strong suit is stat, cardio, endocrine but not much else. You people's posts have been very helpful to me.

Took mine yesterday. Not sure how to feel about it. Of course there were some that I looked up and I was right and then there were some that were wrong.

In terms of the biostats, it was not calculations based like I expected (finding RR/RRR/ARR/NNH/NNT) but rather straight up interpretation of the already computed numbers and their significance.

In terms of the clinical questions, it was definitely fair. I found myself just going with what I would do in practice. But of course there were some that stumped me because it was so nitty gritty, third line option, not common disease state or hard to figure out because we actually don't do it in practice (even though we should).

I think it can go either way for me personally. But staying hopeful.

Does anyone know how long results take to come back? Should I check Prometrics every week? Would i get a notification? email? postal mail?

Last year they started posting BCPS results on December 3rd

I am so with you. Took mine on yesterday Monday 12th. I waited till the last day haha. It was tough for me. Not sure on so many questions except the biostats. The policy questions are just all over the place. But I will keep a positive outlook and hope I pass. If not, now I know what to expect on this exam and will definitely do better, a lot better, in Spring.

You're not the only one... It's like you eliminate down to two answers each time.. it's questionable what the right answer is.

If you get a 50% on the ACCP mock exam and 42% on ASHP mock exam 10 or so days before the exam, what estimated real scaled score on the actual exam would you have gotten?

you will!! I was in the same boat and I scored 530. I was super nervous day before the exam. So it's usual. :)

I took it on Sep. 21st and felt the exact same way lol.

THANK YOU! I really hope so. I get anxiety QID sometimes QID plus bedtime. The wait is causing me super stress. How long does it usually take to be on prometric? If you pass, is that the same day you get the certification or do you wait?

Results were released in the first week of December last year so I imagine they will be released around the same time this year.

haha!! don't think about it now. Relax for a few weeks. i think last time they posted on their site about the result dates. So just log in on BPS site in the morning on the day of your result. Once you pass it takes around 3-4 weeks to actually receive certificate and PIN.

I got 437 first time, 472 second time, so I hope the third time is a charm. I feel much better about this round , however I still have some doubt. I would not be upset if I do not pass this time, I feel I am learning a lot each time I study for the exam. In the end, this is definitely helping with my work. We did the hard part already, this certification is the icing on the top. Let us be hopeful and this may be the time.

I cannot take another month of this anxiety. Kind of getting nervous. BPS did not announce release dates on their website yet.

i know. it was same with me. I still don't understand why it takes so long to get the results. Usually they announce a week before on their website. So just hang in there!! :)

I’ve reviewed the materials from ACCP. I plan to take the exam in spring 2021. I started to get nervous already .
I definitely need to do the mock exam from ACCP. Do you recommend the exam from ASHP as well. Btw, am I able to work on 1 subject at a time or the questions are randomly listed? (I meant on the mock exam) I did the review questions after each section in ACCP and made around 70ish.
