saki why did you say shutup?

why is your gpa so low? did you screw up freshman year or has it been consistently low? if you've shown improvement over time, i say go for it. 31 is a great score.

It's a little late to apply for 2005. Wait until the next cycle begins, and apply to a range of schools, including DOs and perhaps Masters. Good luck.

Not sure we can give you a great assessment with so little detail. Your GPA is below the average for virtually all med schools. Your MCAT is slightly above the average of those who attend. Unless you have some really unusual extracurriculars, it may behoove you to pursue a post-bacc or some graduate schooling to retake classes and/or to boost your overall GPA.
Or perhaps explore DO schools, which seem to require lower average scores.

What's your bcpm?

Most schools will gladly take your application fees then promptly throw your file away after sending you a thin envelope.

is there a reason for your low gpa? What major are you & where do you go to school (i'm wondering if you're an engineer b/c we do tend to have lower than normal gpas).

If I were you, I'd do a post-bac program or a masters program... And like Law2Doc said, apply to few DO schools in addition to MD schools.

because i'm tired of reading "what are my chances" posts. people with your background have certainly gotten in and people with substantially lower gpa's and mcat's have gotten in. this is a crap shoot and there is no magic number.
as for your timing...i'd apply next year.

i doubt it. it seems pretty untrollish to make a troll account and then sit on it for 4 years (the op registered in 2001).

to the op:
your chances this cycle are not good.

as others have mentioned, if you're GPA been consistantly around a 3.0, then you're going to need to do some post-bac/graduate work to show that you can academically handle med school.

if your gpa was say 2.0 for two years and 4.0 for the next two, then you're in better shape. med schools like to see positive trends.

either way, you should probably at least wait until the next application cycle starts to apply. depending on the how old your mcat is, it might be advisable to wait an extra year on top of that to take some upperlevel bio classes and raise the gpa.

good luck,
s
