I read that a few months ago, and it really helped feed my embryonic dreams of going to med school. It's better-written and more intellectual than most books in the genre that I've encountered. Since he devotes a whole chapter to narrating his experience in each core third-year rotation, it's a great introduction to the major specialties for anyone who doesn't know that much about medicine. Also, his descriptions of patients and other doctors read like a good novel.
The one complaint I have is that the lecherous tone Konner takes when he's describing certain female patients (including underage ones) is kind of gross, and it's a startling contrast to the sensitivity and thoughtfulness he displays in the rest of the book. Still worth reading if you can overlook that, though.
