A molecule has an extinction coefficient of 11000M^-1cm^-1 at its lamda max of 200nm. Calculate the concentration assuming a 1cm light path using Beer's Law. (Given: lamda max 200 has an absorbance of .800 absorbance units)

Questions:

1) Is the only reason he put the value for the lamda max = 200nm to trip up the person
answering the question? We never need to know the value for the lamda max b/c it
is assumed that the absorbance was taken at lamda max, correct?

2) Lastly, are the units of "length" always in centimeters?

A = E(extinction coefficient) x l (length) x c(concentration)
