is being in the news to defend a noble cause something you can somehow put into your application? or is this trivial? I am on my college's governing board and as such was interviewed by a state newspaper during a crucial time of change for my college. i appreciate your feedback, thanks.

If you really want to, you can mention the extent of the work that your group did and "it was important enough, that made it to the news". but that may kinda sound lame and come across as if you are after fame more than anything else. even worse, it can draw attention from other positive things in your application.
My thyroid research was all over the news but i only mentioned the publication.

so it seems i came off full of myself or something along those lines. it was a genuine question. i need all the cushioning my application can get at this point... hope you can appreciate that....

I wouldn't mention it in your application, but it may be something you bring up in the interview.

Throwing it on the application would appear cheesy, and the adcoms may take it out of context. In the interview you can spin it however you want, and be humble about it.

any bozo can be in the news. A guy I know was in the news cause his dog came home two mnths after running away. Did you actually do any work to support this cause? Or were you just a bystander voicing your opinion? If you did do some work, talk about it, and don't devote more than a sentence to the newspaper reference. Ideally, make it half a sentence. 👍 Or, better than ideal, lie and tell the adcoms that you wrote an editorial about the issue that got published in the newspaper!! That would look smart.

be honest and ask yourself, do i look sexy in the camera? do i make you feel randy, baby, yeah?

  Lying??? I wonder how many people actually lie on their applications... Anyone want to throw out some percentages? Just for fun, I will say 25% for the hell of it

I was on the news recently and it definitely helped me gain acceptance.

Here is a link to my experience on the news: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQnB64CoLuw&search=leprechaun

I can be seen "helping out" in the community, also displaying my flute.

This is definitely something you should put in your application.  I would say it might be your secret weapon. Who knows maybe you'll catch that little leprechaun and find that pot of gold.

enjoy 👍

Decent I guess. Honestly, I feel like watching that was the largest waste of my life that I can remember in the past year. Should of been shorter, containing intro, story, and the end, ONLY. Oh, and the fact that I am now anticipating the bolt of lightning that is going to strike, and fry my soul next time I step out of my house for even watching that filth.

Dude! I want the gold too man...lmao...i've got an entire collection of kick ass leppy flutes....we should prob. get together and record an album or something. Its so strange, i was just in the news a while back as well. I put this on my application and got accepted to Harvard with a full scholarship..so i guess i recommend telling the adcoms about being in the news, it def. helped me
