yup..i took on the 1st day in UOP...and havent yet got my typho back....

Congratulations to everyone !!!!!

I did not pass 🙁

I am a little bit upset about the lack of explanation about the composit praparation on the 2nd testing day at UOP. I know that in all the testing days at USC and the first day at UOP the candidates got some information about the requirements for the composite restoration and preparation.

I will ask the board to review my examination and I will bring that information up.

I took the exam the 2nd day at USC. I don't remember that we were given instructions about composite. The only explanation I remember hearing is about the PFM, but i could be wrong. I didn't pass either.
Do you know how we can appeal or ask for a critique or something???

Thanks!

you can ask for critique by writing request letter to the board and then they will send it to you.

hi guys
please reply if you have used kilgore and have not passed amalgam i have a feeling that all the people who used kilgore have failed mostly in amalgam section let us band together and demand for recorrection i even have made cast of my preperation and have showed it lot of people unable to understand why they have given 65 anway let us band i am not bitter becos i flunked ,,the lack of understanding of how they have criticked is what upsets me
😡

what was score which typhodont did you use 😕

I just got my results and I did not pass.

So, my plan is to stard practicing as soon as possible.

As everybody knows, the teeth that we need to practice on are very expensive.

I will call Kilgore and negociate with them a discount, but in order to do that I need to order a big number of teeth.

I already have some people interested in creating a group to order the teeth all at once.

Please, let me know if you are interested in participating in the group and the number of teeth you are willing to buy.

You can send me a private message and we can talk more about this idea.

Let's not give up! Together we can make it!

I used columbia typodont. I got 65 in amalgam , although I passed it in both Ucla mock boards. How many of the people that didn't pass fail amalgam??
I'm very skeptical about the way they graded the amalgam.

How about we make a new thread to discuss the results of this exam? We can write the date of the exam and which typodont used and which attempt that was and maybe even the scores. We need to know how many people passed and if the passing rate is higher this time or not. How much did the changes affect the passing rate? Was the grading process any different from each time?

Hello all,

My wife passed (Elithia/Hilda)!!!!

I am very proud of her, I knew she could do it!!!

She went to the UOP exam. FYI

Best of luck to everyone else.

Steven 🙂

oh my god! i passed the exam! 1st day at uop! im so glad! 😍 :luck: i cant express how i feel rite now......i used columbia typodont.

unfortunately in spite of a lot of hard work, i did not pass the exam. i took duggans full course, passed duggans mock boards, and i thought my exam went pretty well. but i got only 65 in amalgam and cast restorations. wonder what happened. i am planning on going to the meeting on 15th june. i used kilgore and i gave my exam on 1st day at uop.

bansu/futurdentist: since our typodonts are not mailed back yet, can we really ask for a re-check?

I am really sorry to hear that pranjal but the same thing has happened to my friend ,she is the only one who passed duggans mock board in our group and her work was really good. She is really suprised to see that she failed in amalgam, she said her amalgam was really good. How does she go about getting it re-evaluated?

looking for part4 study materials...pls PM me if someone is intrested to sell...
thanx

Hi,
I noticed that many of us who failed the exam didn't receive the typodont.I think they are keeping our typodonts on purpose in case someone files a law suite against them. I don't know if they would be willing to re-evaluate our work. I really don't trust the board people and their intentions.
If there is anybody here who has appealed or asked for re-evaluation, Please advice!!!

Thanks!!

Is it just me or does the passing rate in UOP seem to be much higher than that in USC?? I guess the grading in USC still earned the reputation of being the toughest.

all those who passed good luck for clinical and all those who didnt make it sorry, dont beat yourselves over it..just continue to practise. i too failed the nov exam by 74% so i know how it feels.. but there is nothing u can do, just keep practising. anyways regd the critique: u have to fax a letter to dbc, requesting your crtique, you have to write your name, reference no,your address, the location and date of your exam, and subj should be critique. they will take about 4 weeks to send it. the critique form is just like dr duggans.. and in case if they dont send it in 4 weeks u will have to call them and remind them... and they only critique the failed sections of the exam... and with my critique they included a letter which said :
REEVALUATION:reevaluation of candidates performance at the rt exam will not be conducted by the board of dental examiners. do not send models or any other item for the board to reevaluate.
those are exact words for reeval..
for appeal it gives three reasons for appeal:1. a significant procedural error in the exam process
2. evidence of adverse discrimination.
3.evidence of substantial disadvantage to the examinee.
to appeal u have to write a letter and state grounds for appeal and this has to be done within 60 days of receipt of grade sheets.
for appeal it has give a big para of exaplantion.. i have just wriiten the headings..its too long to write... but the headings are exactly as stated by dbc.. with ur critique u will get this letter...
this is the letter i got.. but now the procedure may have chnaged since the entire pattern is new..so dont just beleive in my post... u should also call the dbc to confirm....

did you pass in two sections atleast or not if your score is 74.3 and if you have passed in two sections you have a good chance for review all you need is 74.6 to pass that is just .8 mark in any one section i am in similar stuation

hi
when you faxed the letter for critque did you pass in other two sections and when you received the critique letter did they mention weather you can appeal or not ,, on what ground did they failed you???? was it right !!!did any body pass after appealing in the history of this exam or they just write to you saying they can do nothing further i have 74.3 and i ve cleared two sections... in amalgam they gave me 65 i even have the cast and i ve showed it to lot of people all said they dont know why they gave me 65...all i need is 1/2 a mark in any sections
😕

My wife also got 74.3 🙁 There is no guarantee that 74.6 is a passing grade. I really do not hold out much hope for appeal .... the burden of proof is on us and it is extremely hard for the dental board to change course and admit they made a mistake.

I am going to the board meeting this Thursday (look for a very irrated husband). I will ask them to give out the passing rate for the different exam dates. I still feel that those who took the exam on the first day were disadvantaged as the preps are the same for all 4 exams. I suspect the passing rate is very poor for the 1st day at USC. Our only hope, however faint it is, is they will grade on a curve. That will be our strategy for appeal - procedural discrimination. The second thing, and I hope others will join in the request, is for the dental board to give out an exam priority number so that we will know roughly when we can sit in the exam. This way we can plan our lives better instead of practicing every 6 months and be disappointed again.

For those curious my wife got her typodont back early. She used Columbia and her score is 75 + 75 + 73. She passed her Duggan's mock board half the time.

I have just posted a poll regarding the April RT exam. Please join in the survey. BTW who will be going to the board meeting? They will discuss the April RT exam.

hi,
yes i passed in 2 sections and in amalgam i got a 69. my gingival clearance was over-extended. 🙁 i dont want to get into debate with dbc.. and besides there is nothing i could do... last year november most people failed with 74%.on the critique sheet they show the grading of both the examiners..and for me they both said same thing. with my grade sheet they sent a letter which they send evryone with the grade sheet, and that letter says that only failed sections critique will be given, and i cannot ask for reevaluation, and the reasons stated for appeal didnt apply to me, for instance there was no power failure during the exam, and there was no discrimation, infact the usc staff is very nice and polite and helpful. its sheer bad luck... and for us they had kept differnt preps for both the days.. if u need just 1/2 mark in any section to clear then call the dbc staff and ask them.. maybe they can give u better idea.
yes i too plan to come for the meeting, coz we should ask them to let us know in advance as to when we will get our chance next...

thank god !!! 👍
i passed ,uop first day bal bal bach gaye!!!!!
i am sorry for those who could not make it .
i am second timer and my personal experience says that board would not change its decission ,and i also think that there grading is genuine sometimes we like to put the blame on the board.i am not saying because i passed , first time when i had taken the exam i knew when i came out that i will not pass because i knew i made major errors not because i did not know my work ,but because i was tensed and scared that what will happen!!!!
so bottom line is if u have really and seriously practised no body can stop us from passing and please stop blaming others for ur mistakes!!!!!!!
i may sound bad but that is the truth.

[I think your wife should apply for the critique and appeal then if she gets 75+75+74 she will definitely pass74.6 is definitely passing i know people who have passed in past with 74.6
😕

hey Inder congratulation ! but you are really sounding very harsh. I guess we don't need your advice..

By the way 75+75+73=74.6 which is a passing score!!!!!!They have calculated wrong if they have given your wife 74.3 .I know a doctor working in western dental who had 74.65 and he passed cause thay had to round it off, that was 10 yrs ago but maths does not change!!!!!!
