Best books for intern year

Any suggestions as to what to be reading before starting your intern year in IM? Is one "survival guide" better than another? Thanks!

Check out the "House of God" by Samuel Shem if you have a chance.

Other than that, some clean underwear and a stethescope is all you'll need

Seriously though, I do carry around copies of the sandford guide for antimicrobials, pocket medicine, and a pharmacopia or ePocrates. but as for reading ahead of time, i am not sure there are any worthwhile survival guides.
