Hello all,

So I have attended four interviews now and am waiting on my decision letters/emails. I have three other interviews that I am not sure I want to attend or not and this is where you can possibly help me!

I want to go into radiology or possibly something surgery related. I have always been interested in the surgery room environment and have shadowed MANY sub specialists in this area. I know that your specialty is MOST influenced by how much you put into your school and how hard you work and that you can be successful at ANY school, however some schools are newer and may not have the connections to assist the student in finding competitive residencies, etc.

These are the schools I have interviews at, have interviewed at, or am currently waiting on (to hopefully offer an interview later).

If anyone has any insight on the schools and why/why not they would be a good choice for someone who wants to land a spot in a competitive residency, PLEASE POST!

Interviewed at:

CAMPBELL
WESTERN
KCUMB
DMU

Scheduled interviews next month:

LECOM-BRADENTON
LECOM-SETON HILL
LMU

Hopefuls Interviews:

TCOM
PCOM
NOVA
OKLAHOMA
ATSU-KCOM

Thank you!

Osteopathic surgical residencies rely heavily on an away rotation there (one month job interview), which you will set up and go to during your 4th year. It doesn't have anything to do with what school you go to. I've been traveling all over the country to do mine. You have to make all your own connections. The school doesn't do it for you unlike MD schools.

DMU and kcumb are good. I wouldn't go to any of the new schools.

I have have been very impressed by KCUMB's match list. You can find these by doing a simple google search. Campbell, being a new school, hasn't graduated anyone yet, I believe.

Just search ___COM match list 2013 or 2014

I think KCUMB will get you any residency you want if you do your part. MS1 here.

Does that mean KCUMB is the best DO school?

you're getting warmer... Tehe

Just kidding, It seems like an awesome school. But that's not to knock the fact that there are also plenty of other amazing schools too. Just off the top of my head: OSU, MSU, OUCOM, TCOM, and CCOM also come to mind as other great schools. But I would argue that with the list the OP currently has, and with the fields he wants to go in to, KCUMB is definitely one of the better options. My proof is solely in the match lists and the boards scores that the school has produced over the past few years.

I cringe every time someone refers to OSU-COM as 'Oklahoma.'

Why would this make you cringe?

My guess would be because Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are pretty big rivals. In other words, someone from OSU would not be happy about being referred to as Oklahoma.
