Why the need for a physical? Could it wait until you have insurance coverage?
While the up-front fee may be affordable, beware of the false positive on a physical exam or lab test that may trigger a follow-up test, that triggers additional f/u scans and so on and so on through general anesthesia & surgery, all to find out that you are perfectly fine all along (aside from the medical bills that keep arriving in the mailbox).
A positive test result may make it harder to get health insurance for what would than be called a "pre-existing condition". For example, you go for a physical, your fasting blood sugar is a bit above normal, you get labeled "possible type II diabetes", more blood work, etc is needed and then when you try to buy health insurance, you're told that any care related to diabetes will not be covered for 6 months because it is a pre-existing condition -- even if subsequent blood work came back within the normal range.
