Where should I look for apartments if I choose to go to Loyola?...do you think it is worth it to live in the city, or should i look for soemthing in the suburbs?

Personally, I would live in the suburbs. The commute from the city is not exactly short (about 35 min on a great day with no traffic). With the way the highways are around Chicago, you never know what you will find, especially on the 290. Anything can hold you up - from traffic to accidents to construction, you name it, it's there. And not to mention the weather - snow, ice and heavy rains will definitely slow you down. Having lived in the Windy City my whole life, I've gotten to know this place pretty well.

I would check the suburban newspapers for apartments in cities such LaGrange, Countryside, Brookfield to name a few and find out from the other students where they are living and compare notes.

However, if your heart is set on living in the city, then go for it. You have to go where your heart is otherwise you won't be happy. I think that living in the city would be doable, although not all that convenient, especially during your first 2 years.

Hope that helps.

When I interviewed there, my tour guide said most students lived in Forest Park or Oak Park which are not that far from Loyola.

Hey - From what I've heard, Oak Park is the place to live....at least that?s where I'll be getting an apartment! 😉 It?s supposedly a cool suburb in the sense that there are some funky shops, good places to eat, and interesting things to do in the area

The guy I talked to liked living in Forest Park cause it was a little cheaper, less strict about cars parking on the street, and it has a bunch of nearby bars.

Yea, I would agree that Forest Park and Oak Park are good places to live if you are going to go to Loyola. They are fairly close to the school and close enough to the city if you ever want to hang out there.
