Biden Out of Race

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I’m not knocking the source. I’m just saying no one cares. Trump just laughed at the emoluments clause in our constitution and you’re concerned about the DNC? I’m not! Maybe post the fire dept getting a cat out of a tree next time!
How big of a box do you think we’ll need, to ship the Statue of Liberty back to France??

How big of a box do you think we’ll need, to ship the Statue of Liberty back to France??

Well I think the entire country would indeed need a rather large box for that gift, given to the entire country. I believe DJT will need larger box though TBH for the personal gift. But I’m glad you don’t care!

If illegal immigration stays where it is, inflation stays down, Ukraine/Israel resolve, and the Dow/S&P reach all-time highs, by say, January ‘26, are you gonna CONTINUE with the daily “Trump Derangement” posts???

I already told you I don't care about illegal immigration. That's a metric that doesn't matter to me.

If Trump negotiates a peace without giving up our ally in Ukraine, that would be good. So far he seems more than willing to give them up. We'll see what "deal" emerges.

I would say Trump is "resolving" the Israel/Gaza situation by allowing Israel to level Gaza and resettle it. Is that a resolution I think we should be aiming for? Not really.

I expect the market to reach all time highs over time. Again, the market was fine prior to Trump "deranging" it.

I am going to continue to point out the flaws in the administration as I see them. What exactly are you expecting? Should we all be ignoring the $400 million Qatari bribe? The ongoing crypto gifts?

Inflation?? Here we are, 4 months later, and back down.

What did Trump do? You never answered. I believe it was a combination of action by the Fed and the IRA that lowered inflation.

“Tariff threats are going to wreck the economy!!!” We’re already higher, now, than we were until September of 2024.

I would say they're hurting our global standing as a reliable trading partner. But they aren't benefiting the economy as you seem to be implying. The economy is moving along in the trajectory it otherwise would have. Do I need to bring out the graph again?

How many times is the sky NOT going to fall, before some of you quit the “Chicken Little”, routine???

Not sure what you're referring to from me. I've tried to make more measured predictions for the past few years. I point out bad things that the Trump administration has done or is planning to do. If I overstepped somewhere and claimed the economy was going to crater, go ahead and call me out on it.

Tariffs did wreck the market. Do you not recall ‘Liberation Day’ and that stupid meme ‘reciprocal tariffs’ chart? Trump backed down and reversed course, but claimed a win after ‘trade deals’.
Tell you what, how about we give Trump more than 5-6 weeks, to try and fix 50-plus years of trade imbalances?

When someone in your family cleans a closet out, or a contractor comes to renovate, do you spend time complaining about the “mess”, or do you actually give them time to produce some “results”??

“Breaking eggs to make an omelette”, yada, yada……

You're pretty active today.

Let's talk about the "50 plus years of trade imbalances".

What exactly are you referring to? Trade deficits? What's the strongest argument that these "trade imbalances" are hurting the United States and that Trump "fixing" them is going to help?

Sorry, dude. If you think I’m gonna spend the next several hours of my day, reviewing your multi-paragraph “Mega MAGA Fascism” tirades and cut-and-pastes, over the last 250-plus pages, and trying to quote them, verbatim, well, you’re gonna have to look for satisfaction/validation, elsewhere.

Meanwhile, I’ll leave you with this:

Take a trip to Detroit, or Cleveland, or Chicago, or Ft. Wayne, or…..Get back to me…..

Coming down off that posting high pretty quick. I'll be here if you actually want to substantiate your claim.

Have you been to Detroit lately? It's actually doing quite well since the bankruptcy.

Most sources I've seen blame automation for the loss of the vast majority of manufacturing job losses. We still do A LOT of manufacturing btw. Again, what's the argument here? Gesturing to blighted communities and saying some unspecified bad trade deals in the past resulted in poverty?

Let's take a look at the UK deal he negotiated for us where we now still have to pay 10% more for everything made in the UK. Is that deal (or future ones) going to revitalize Fort Wayne? Is that the metric we should be using now according to you?

I believe you’d give him eternity. My standards for politicians appear much higher than yours, whether Dem or Repub. Above all I hope for the best for the country I'm raising my children in.

“Automation” sure is supplying a lot of manual labor positions, in China/Mexico/India/Indonesia/Pakistan etc al, isn’t it????

Oh, yeah. You’ll be “here”. Every hour, on the hour. We’ve got 250 pages of “proof”, of that….

Yeah man, anesthesia is pretty chill. Lots of downtime between cases and I pick up extra shifts routinely. But if you're concerned about my social media use, I'll let you know I PR'ed my trail half last weekend and did some woodworking as well.

? They have much cheaper labor costs in those countries and they've made different policy decisions favoring specific industries. I'm not tracking your argument. We can make those investments too (see IRA or CHIPs act that are in the process of being gutted). We've been shifting to a service and knowledge base economy over time. If we wanted to halt that transition, I imagine there are steps we could take to do that. But that would be pretty painful.

Distance running and lathe work are female coded now?

I'll show you my Warhammer collection and that should resolve any doubt.

Those of you mad about the Qatar "Palace in the Sky" gift ... wait until you hear about the gift France gave us in 1886 for $1.4 Billion

Also your "MAGA economics" chart is missing the catastrophic "Great Depression" level drop when we default on our debt which is without a doubt the trajectory this country was on.

State media must’ve posted an article today making the Statue of Liberty analogy. You’re the second MAGA to go there. Of course one country giving another entire country is the same as the royal family of one country giving the president of another country (one person…) a $400 million gift. Of course they’re the same. And of course it’s so freaking sad that MAGA can’t just say it’s wrong and against the constitution and Trump shouldn’t accept. They auto-defend him.

oh, our debt you say? We received $16 billion in tariff dollars last month. That’s not bad at all admittedly. The interest on our $32 trillion debt was $82 billion, just last month. now I get you’re not an honest poster. But who knows what trajectory we’re actually on.

You forgot to tell us about your Crossfit workout, and your collection of 6.5 Creedmoor’s.

Don’t feel obligated to send measurements of your pee-pee.

Since we’re apparently “competing”, now….

You’re trying too hard….

"Despite promises to cut spending during the campaign and his first few months in office, President Trump's federal government has spent more than $200 billion more in his first 100 days compared to the same time period last year.

In fact, the government is now spending more, day to day, than was spent in nine of the last 10 years. The exception: 2021, when the government was spending trillions to fight the coronavirus pandemic and prevent an economic disaster."

Lol. Did crossfit for a bit, decided it wasn't for me. I've got a kid now so I try to get out there as often as I can, but it's getting harder to find time to enjoy my hobbies. I didn't know what a Creedmoor was, apparently something to do with guns per Google.

I'm not trying to compete with you at all. You just seemed concerned I spend too much time here, which is probably the case. But I do have other hobbies. I would like to get into welding at some point.

I lived in Cleveland from 1974-1985 and I’ve been visiting family there at least 2x per year since I left. On my last visit in March it was better than any other time that I can remember. Still don’t want to live there 😉

Given that the NBA is as fixed (Mavs #1 pick?) as the 2024 election was, I would have thought Polymarket would have been better at “predicting” the NBA playoffs. I suppose an OKC vs Boston finals is still possible, but I had higher hopes for Polymarket’s AI-driven quantum computers given that it really went out on a limb to predict the (not fixed wink wink 😉) 2024 presidential election.

I grew up there, My dad’s side of the family is from Windsor. Cleveland is a pretty decent city. Detroit is still trash. Reminds me of this old gem.

I find it somewhat interesting that you didn’t write the Clinton “family” but did write the Biden family. Admittedly, I don’t know much about the Bidens but isn’t a Joe the only one in politics? (His son seems to be certainly corrupt, but seeing as how he’s not an elected official…)

EDIT: and I say this as someone who would absolutely be corrupt too. I would happily accept a trip to the Bahamas or something to give more sugammadex, cause honestly, if mofo’s can get jumbo jets and ****ing RV’s etc etc why can’t I get a free trip?
I should have said Clinton family.

I thought medi-cal for illegal immigrants was supposed to save money.

At least that was the progressive talking point.

This should help kill any presidential aspirations Newsome has.
He sees the writing on the wall unlike the rest of the party. Moving back to center is the best thing he could do for his political future.

Well the border wall falls are now coming in under border patrol custody again which means the border patrol is paying our bills again. They pay much better than Medi-Cal 😀

So he was mixing up his brown cabinet secretaries.

Comical cover up by a lot of the media and his party.

Anyone who wasn't biased could see with their own eyes that Biden was not mentally fit to be president. The evidence had been clear for at least a year. He got lucky with his presidential run that he could hide due to covid.

Turns out the plane was a white elephant gift.

"The royal family of Qatar, owner of one of the largest private jet fleets in the world, has been quietly getting rid of some of its biggest planes. It may have found the perfect taker for one of its Boeing 747 jumbo jets in President Donald Trump, who has been frustrated with the multi-year delays in replacing Air Force One.

While many have speculated that the Qataris have offered Trump the luxurious plane to curry favor with the famously transactional president, there may be a simpler rationale: they just don’t want it anymore.

The royals have failed to sell the plane, which was put on the market in 2020, according to an archived listing. Giving it away could save Qatar’s rulers a big chunk of change on maintenance and storage costs, aviation experts told Forbes. Making Trump happy would be an added bonus.

Qatar, which has given away another blinged-out 747 and may have mothballed two more, epitomizes the fading demand for these huge, fuel-guzzling, highly personalized airplanes. There aren’t many who want to buy them, and many of the governments and royal families who own them have been trying to ditch them over the past decade."

That plane is valued at $400mil. To put that in perspective, these are the top 10 donors and the amount of their donations during the 2024 Presidential election campaign. The Qataris want advanced chips that were export banned because of their association with Hamas and China. They want to build AI data centers as they already have access to cheap energy. Trump is salivating at the gulf oil money.

A lot of red in there.

But hey, Im sure those folks were looking out for the poor working man..

This is an analysis by a couple of Canadian Leftists about what the billionaires are up to. Rich doomsday preppers.

“The movement for corporate city states cannot believe its good luck. For years, it has been pushing the extreme notion that wealthy, tax-averse people should up and start their own high-tech fiefdoms, whether new countries on artificial islands in international waters (“seasteading”) or pro-business “freedom cities” such as Próspera, a glorified gated community combined with a wild west med spa on a Honduran island.

Yet despite backing from the heavy-hitter venture capitalists Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen, their extreme libertarian dreams kept bogging down: it turns out most self-respecting rich people don’t actually want to live on floating oil rigs, even if it means lower taxes, and while Próspera might be nice for a holiday and some body “upgrades”, its extra-national status is currently being challenged in court.

Now, all of a sudden, this once-fringe network of corporate secessionists finds itself knocking on open doors at the dead center of global power.”

“Inspired by a warped reading of the political philosopher Albert Hirschman, figures including Goff, Thiel and the investor and writer Balaji Srinivasan have been championing what they call “exit” – the principle that those with means have the right to walk away from the obligations of citizenship, especially taxes and burdensome regulation. Retooling and rebranding the old ambitions and privileges of empires, they dream of splintering governments and carving up the world into hyper-capitalist, democracy-free havens under the sole control of the supremely wealthy, protected by private mercenaries, serviced by AI robots and financed by cryptocurrencies.“

Another way to look at it:

Over the course of 5 years, the total amount Hunter Biden's whole firm made from Burisma was $11 million.

Hope they let him back in.

Everyone wants someone with a net worth of $1.2 billion lecturing them on what is right or wrong. Good old average Joe from Jersey. He's a regular "man of the people." Just a simple old guy who has been living the human struggle for the past 50 years as a millionaire. He understands the struggles of the regular people.

There's some truth in this, but dude didn't exactly come from money growing up. Better him than a Kardashian telling everyone their opinion.

Are you talking about Bruce, or Trump?

Are you talking about Bruce, or Trump?
I can see how it could apply to both. The difference is that one of them was elected to serve as President and the other is a polarizing entertainer. If Bruce was POTUS, then I would say he should be dispensing his political opinions. But, since he isn't, I think most would prefer that he sing his songs that they came to hear and drop the prepared speech he is reading from a teleprompter. I don't care for him much as a musical artist. I care for him even less as a political pundit. Similarly, I love the music of U2, but hate when Bono gets on his soap box about issues. Just sing the songs. Take care of other stuff behind the scenes and on your own time. Not during the concert that I overpaid to attend.

I think it is below the POTUS to engage with Springsteen in such a childish way. The President should stay above the fray on issues with Bruce and Taylor Swift. It is not a good look, even if I don't disagree with his overall assessment. It seems childish and he should just let others comment on the absurdity of Springsteen going to foreign soil and denigrating his country and his president. There are plenty who will have a lot to say about Springsteen and he deserves it. Trump should stay quiet on the matter. His silence would be far more effective. If I was Trump, I would invite Bruce to the White House and treat him exactly as Trump treated Bill Maher. That is the only way he will change opinions. However, I don't believe that Springsteen would accept the invite nor be as open as Bill Maher was.

It seems that Trump doesn't really care what anyone thinks of him any more, and that is hampering any good things that he may get done.

Detroit is doing much better and has undergone a revitalization of the downtown area. It was because private equity bought all of the lake front property for pennies on the dollar during bankruptcy. I guess that can be considered a success story, but decades of pain and suffering is a tough way to get to where Detroit is currently. The one time I visited a few years back, I was pleasantly surprised.
