Any former Big 4 consultants currently in med school, please share your thoughts: I'm seriously considering taking premed classes and going to med school. I'd appreciate some nuggets of advice:
1. Did your work experience (brand name recognition) help in getting into a very good school given that you already had a good gpa and mcat score?

2. Did the work ethic you developed working as a consultant help in MS1 and MS2?

I ask these questions because I have an offer from a Big 4 consulting firm and I'm wondering if it's worth staying with my current firm (no brand recognition value, non-medical field), working 37.5 hrs a week and taking premed courses on the side or taking the consulting job, working for two years and then heading to med school.

Thanks.

Go to a Big 4 (I remember when it was 5). There is a lot to say for brand value, and the caliber of people you'd see at D&T/KPMG/PWC/E&Y. As for getting into a good medical school, every medical school is plenty good. If the decision comes down to postponing medical school for a gig at a Big 4, then that is a different situation, and in my opinion a deal breaker. I would take a spot in medical school over a spot at the four firms listed any day of the week, but I am biased.
