Any MA residents care to chime in as to how the "Big Dig" will divert traffic? I have an interview at Tufts next week and hope that traffic won't be too bad.

I think you're a couple years too late to worry about that- it's done pretty much. Navigating around construction is part of the day to day though..

If you're driving in and it's your first time driving in Boston, remember the mantra "kill or be killed". Make sure your horn works.

Thnx for the quick response. I drove up 2 weeks ago for BU and the construction didn't seem too bad (a little over 4 hours from jersey). The drivers aren't nearly as bad as NYC taxi cabs :scared:

Since Tufts is at 10:00 AM (as opposed to BU at 7:30 AM), how much extra time should I allot for rush hour traffic?

Boy is it going to be fun sitting in gridlock with a manual tranny 🙄

You're going to drive in Boston? Are you crazy? I used to live there. Anyway, I'd give yourself an hour to get there (from Boston to Medford). It will probably only be 30 minutes since you're going against traffic, but you just never know. The Big Dig will not impact you at all once you get out of Boston proper.

Used to have a great old Land Rover, with a very trucky manual, and I still have an overdeveloped left quad from hanging out in Miami gridlock daily.

tufts med campus is downtown (on harrison, near chinatown)...expect major delays b/c they closed part of exit 20 recently and are also repaving the surface artery until december. if you have parking figured out ahead of time you should be fine, good luck

exit 20 from rt. 93 to rt. 90? I just gave the office a call and nobody can verify this or give me an alternate route... lol

exit 20 from 93-south, which you wouldn't take coming from jersey, but it makes all of the other exits slightly more hellish than they otherwise are

i interviewed at tufts on tuesday and did not see any traffic in the area at all. i took the T in from my cousin's place in brookline and it took 20 minutes at the most to get there from the door to the school. also having a 10:15 start time was very convenient.

Just take a train or bus to South Station. It's a quick walk from there and you avoid all the traffic altogether. 🙂

Okay, go early. That's all I can say, especially if you're not that familiar with the Boston area. It's not the easiest place in the world to find, and Boston isn't the easiest city to get around.
