Hi all,

Say I enroll in a school that I have been accepted to but is not my first choice and it begins before my first choice (where I am waitlisted), what do I do? Am I allowed to drop out if accepted to my 1st choice after enrolling at the other school, if I am pulled off the waitlist?

Thanks.

George

Yes, you are allowed to drop out of the first school and enroll in the second. However, the first school may or may not refund any tuition you have already paid, so you need to be prepared to make this financial sacrifice.

Whats the chance that you will get pulled off the wait list though? I know it's possible all the way up to 1st day of classes but the stories you hear about people being called on the 1st day of classes are pretty rare arent they?

Unless the two schools are really close together, you'll have to deal with moving and packing up your stuff. More money. Will you be breaking any leases? Things to think about.

Also, if you really feel that you won't be comfortable at you 2nd choice or whatever, just don't go. You might not be happy there and that would suck.

Good luck though and congrats on your acceptance.

Last year, I had moved to Florida, enrolled at Nova, and spent 2 weeks in class there plus a week of orientation. A few days before orientation at CCOM started (late August), I got admitted there off the waitlist. I withdrew from Nova, packed up all my stuff, and drove 23 hours to Chicago in a span of 2 days.

It can (and has been) done.

Why did you leave nova?

Nova is a great school; I left because I wanted to be in Chicago, and at a school that seemed to be a better fit for me.

Claymore...

thats awesome...you're totally right about a right fit. I turned down CCOM's acceptance for Nova(the reverse of your situation), because I felt Nova was a better fit for me. Altogether, it is all about the "fit"...so 2004 applicants...make sure u really research your schools when applying to them(unless you were like me, in which you just wanted to get into any school and then make a choice later)...the interviews and friends will really tell you which schools are good and their environment...but it is left to you to make the ultimate choice.

Good luck 2004 AACOMASers!!

We'll all be keeping our manipulating fingers crossed!!
