700k base is still earning more than other clinical professors with the same position.

And that's the proposed - who knows what his contract negotiation will actually settle on.
 
Not that this is too relevant, but as a med student when I rotated through MDACC 15+ years ago, I came away with the distinct impression that Buchholz is a genuinely decent human being with a lot of integrity, unlike many of his counterparts.
