I think the answer should be that the brush border of the small intestine


B) Increasing the absorption Surface

AND


c) Breaking food into smaller particles

The reason is that I read the following from my textbook :
" The brush border contains membrane bound digestive enzymes such as carb digesting enzymes, protein digesting enzymes called peptidases, and nucleotide digesting enzymes called nucleosidases "

Members don't see this ad.
 
I think when it says break food down, it's referring to the larger process of things like chewing and maybe churning in the stomach :)
