Would anyone comment on what it's like studying/taking Block exams tucom (CA or NV). It sounds like having a cummulative final every 6wks with 10-15 tests 😱
Do you feel it to be an effective means of learning/testing the material?

Any other comments would be great as well. I'm 99% sure about going there(bay area fan), but would just like to know a little bit more before dropping in my 2K.

many thanks,

Blocks start tomorrow for us in NV so, you may not hear from us until later in the week. Sorry, gotta study...

I actually prefer it over the 1 or 2 test thing a week.

blocks start tomorrow too at TUCOM-CA. It's a lot of stuff jammed up into 5 weeks. But what's the alternative? If the blocks were lengthened, it'll just be even more crap I have to stuff into my head for exams. I've always done better in classes that had more frequent exams - keeps me on my toes. I heard that before TUCOM went into block exam style it was kind of chaotic- there were tests for different classes at different times. It made a lot of people skip classes the day before they had an exam. I imagine either way it'll be stressful and frustrating no matter what. I'm freaking out, but I know somehow my classmates and I have done well every quarter so far (averages are in the Bs with no curves). Thinking back it is kind of daunting to think about what you are commiting yourself to (10-15 exams in a whole week!), but you'll adjust and the week just somehow flies by. Congrats! perhaps I'll see ya around next year.

BTW - TUCOM is changing the curriculum next year - not sure what that means for you. Anyways, in a few weeks the faculty is hosting a meeting to dispell any misleading theories (gossip), remind me and I'll keep you updated.

Thanks, Goodluck on the exams. As for next years curriculum, all I heard while at my interview was that anatomy will now be covered over 2 years.
I guess I have plenty to look forward to.

Interesting...I haven't heard of anything changing for down here. If anything, gross was changed from a year down to 7 months. Hmmm. 🙄

I like the block exams system because you don't have to take a test every week or 2 weeks. that lets you be normal for a few week before you become stressed out about upcomeing exams, now i need to go study for BSF
