when do you take the D.O. board exams, and the allopathic boards? Are they around the same time? How difficult is it to study for the two at the same time if they are around the same time? Do they cover the same material except OMM on the D.O. boards?

The Kaplan study books are identical, except for the covers (and no OMM for the USMLE). That should tell you something.

1. Step 1 of COMLEX/USMLE = summer between 2nd & 3rd year
2. Step 2 of COMLEX/USMLE = during 4th year
3. Step 3 of COMLEX/USMLE = during PGY-1 (internship year/1st year of residency)

---> I've been told from professors & students that the COMLEX is heavier on anatomy and the USMLE is heavier on biochem, but they are both essentially the same, with the exception of the OMM. I've heard from several people who have taken both tests that the USMLE is actually easier than the COMLEX.

I've heard the same as OSUdoc and know multiple people from my school who scored 99s on both.
