Hey everyone. I thought such helpful people might be interested in checking this out. Everyone knows about giving blood, but this was new to me, and thought I would share.

It's interesting that you would post this. I just updated my information in the registry. I was prompted by the story of Uzoma Azuh, which made its way through the boards not too long ago.

Yea....the thing is. Blood donation is easy and quick and often a source of a free lunch for me, whereas that bone marrow stuff, while very very important takes a little longer than 20 minutes of your time and a banaid. It also has the tendency to be known as a fairly painful procedure, although with the anesthesia is know as just a painful bruise the next day.

Painful yes, but only for a couple of days, and you're likely saving someone's life. What's a little soreness compared to that?

And they won't let you in the registry if you have anything wrong with you. Like I have asthma, and they said it was too big of a risk for the anestesia...so I couldn't even be in the registry : (

 i'm a bone marrow donor(on their registry, haven't actually undergone any procedures yet), blood donor, and organ donor.
