I'm having a crappy week. I know there's nothing I can do, so I'm just going to complain in an online forum. heh.

Waaaay back in March, I asked my Biochem professor for a LOR. I gave him the info (my school uses Interfolio) and have followed up multiple times. Two weeks ago, I gave up on him, and asked a different professor (also natural sciences) for a letter instead via email. She responded, agreeing to help me, and I sent her the information. Still no letter, and I wrote back to follow up. She's leaving for vacation tomorrow, and said she'd do it when she got back.

I've been submitting secondaries all along, under the impression that I was going to send out my letters upon receiving this last one. Now I learn that it's possibly going to be 2-3 more weeks before I'm complete anywhere!

How badly will this hurt my chances?
Has anyone else been nailed like this recently?

WOW! Boned is the totally wrong word to use here. I was expecting to read some awesome post about how you got in on with your hot 20-something prof who wears nothing but workout clothes when she lectures. This thread eats dick 👎 🙄

My school sends out my premed committee letter on August 16th so all of my applications haven't been processed yet. It sucks.

There's a plant bio prof. here who teaches part of the core Bio course. Came into lecture with shorts and tank-top. You could feel all the men watching her closely.

Different folks, different strokes. Mine sent mine out too early (July 19) before I submitted AMCAS. Now, I'm not sure if all the schools have trashed my letters since they didn't see any application to match 'em up with.

I think if you get all your letters in in August you will be just fine. Again, students are accepted after taking the August MCAT so just imagine how much further ahead you are than them if your file is COMPLETE in August.

I think it would equate to about one parsec if we were using astronomical units.

not quite what i expected to read OP, but i'll comment nonetheless.

yeah, that's a difficult situation. but i'm sure you'll be fine. your scores and ECs look great! and your lor will come around eventaully and your app should be processed well before Augsust MCATers. SDN makes this seem like more of a race than it really is.

i've learned that LORs writers usually like deadlines and would prefer to receive emails reminders whether it be weekly, or monthly, or whatever (but not to spam or annoy them of course). any prof willing to write a good LOR probabaly wants to help and see you succeed, but at the same time they have a ton of other things to do. having your personal statement, transcript, and resume attached to each reminder also helps them save time.

My committee is taking forever to put out this letter!!!

Why is this extra BS step necessary? Do I need my prehealth's office permission to apply!?! I wish I never bothered with this committee letter crap and applied w/o it. All I would have needed to do was just explain my reason for my actions during secondaries and that'll be it.

This is so frustrating. My applications won't be complete until mid-September 😡

I know for a fact my letter was done in June. I have my letters setup through Interfolio and would have sent them out already but I know for a fact that my prehealth committee wrote a stellar recommendation. Thus my prolonged wait.
