Hey everyone,

Anyone know of any good medical memoir type books? (I've read "When the air hits your brain" and "hot lights, cold steel" already)

Thanks!

Do a search. There are several good threads on this with dozens of great suggestions. One I've read recently that I like is actually not a personal memoir, but is written by a journalist about Paul Farmer, who works with the poor in Haiti and other parts of the world, specialzing in infectious diseases. It's called "Mountains Beyond Mountains," and I really enjoyed it. If you're interested in Dr. Farmer's ideas about medicine and the social aspects of health, he has written several books that delve into this subject, but I haven't personally read them yet.

For more of a collection of patient stories, I'd suggest "Complications."

There are some books by Perri Klass ("Not entirely benign procedure") and Robert Marion ("Intern Blues") that I liked. Not sure what you're after though.

I second the recommendation for "The Intern Blues" by Robert Marion.
